In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Kukkiwon, the first Taekwondo textbook in 16 years was published.
The Taekwondo textbook was first published in November 1987 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Kukkiwon, and an additional edition was published in September 2005. This book is a completely revised edition.
Compared to the previous supplementary edition (single volume, total 789 pages), the textbook, which has been greatly increased to 5 volumes (1,076 pages in total), is △ Volume 1 – Understanding Taekwondo (247 pages) △ Volume 2 – Basics (196 pages) △ Volume 3 Kwon – Poomsae (280 pages) △ Volume 4 – Competition (171 pages) △ Volume 5 – Breaking and Demonstration (182 pages) covers theories and techniques related to Taekwondo.

Kukkiwon Taekwondo Research Institute has been conducting ‘Taekwondo Textbook Research’ since 2020.
In March last year, Kukkiwon formed a Taekwondo textbook compilation committee, analyzed the contents of previous Taekwondo textbooks and books, and set the direction of writing. In June 2021, the committee began writing Taekwondo textbooks.
On September 10 last year, a public hearing held online and offline was held to collect and review opinions. By December, video and photos were taken and the manuscript was supplemented.
