Is it appropriate to introduce Weapon technique to Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is a bare hand martial art. Originally, all schools of martial arts are comprehensive, so there are not only bare hands but also various techniques and disciplines, and even prescriptions to prevent or treat physical injuries.

Since Taekwondo was established as a martial art in a relatively late period, it would not have felt the need for weapons such as swords. Because you have a gun, you do not have to use an old-fashioned weapon.

But the weapon that killed the most people in human history is still the sword. According to the number of deaths caused by the use of weapons in the United States in 2018, the number of pistols was 6,603 versus 1515 knives, but the number is much higher if the range is expanded to weaponry. It is a very misleading idea to use your bare hands against opponents with weapons. Police officers who do not carry firearms also carry a triple rod or a police rod for that reason.

If it is decided to introduce Weapon technique into taekwondo, it will be the most progressive event in taekwondo history. This is because Taekwondo’s identity extends from martial arts to general martial arts.
