The KTA Future Talent Training for 2019 was held at Baekseok University in Cheonan on 28 and 29 September 2019. This training, which was held four times this year, was divided into four parts: the Gym Growth Department, the Teachers’ Department, the Adult Activation Department, and the Leader’s Department. and the content that attracted the attention of the trainees was “Taekwondo Health care”.
KTA has been steadily attempting to introduce non-Taekwondo contents such as diet, diet, and fitness into the gym for the past 10 years, and has been well received by taekwondo officials. This is not the first time that content other than Taekwondo has been introduced.
The character education program has already been successfully established in the gym. Jump rope is also a popular program.
IN THE FUTURE, THE ROLE OF THE MARTIAL ARTS GYM WILL SHIFT FROM THE TRANSFER OF TECHNique TO “HEALTH CARE FOR MEMBERS.”
It is true that Taekwondo should be the core at Taekwondo Gymnasium, but the importance of supporting programs that will arouse the interest and curiosity of practitioners should not be overlooked. Martial arts and fitness are fused all over the world. Pilates, which has been popular since the age of yoga, originally got a hint from the movement of martial arts. Pilates uses a lot of instruments and extracts added value. Coaches at Crossfit Gym enjoy learning Jiu-Jitsu and sometimes teach self-defense at Yoga Gyms.
Conservatives think that taekwondo gyms should play taekwondo and martial arts, but in the future, the role of the martial arts gym will shift from the transfer of technique to “health care for members.”
Even now, the combination of martial arts and fitness is accelerating in Japan and Europe.
Currently, the young masters of the Taekwondo gymnasium are experts in physical education at four-year colleges, and Kukkiwon and KTA continue to conduct conservative education for them
Is there a sector in Korea that is forming this pool of talent? The demand for modern health care and meditation is steadily increasing. Oriental martial arts are a combination of skill and meditation, and it is important to recognize that oriental martial arts without the spiritual and discipline of meditation are merely fighting technique. Taekwondo has the resources, manpower and infrastructure to meet the needs of the general public for health care and meditation
Is the expansion of Taekwondo’s margins obscure the essence of Taekwondo or is it development? It’s time to start a discussion about change or maintenance.
